The Army Cadet program works on a star level system:
Green star
Red star
Silver star
Gold star
Master Cadet
All new cadets, regardless of age start at the green star level. Typically each star level takes a year to complete with different criteria required to successfully complete each level. Attendance at summer camp compliments the training learned at the home corps and can fill gaps of any missed training.
All new cadets also start out with the rank of Cadet. As they progress through the program, they will qualify to be promoted to higher ranks, each with the more responsibility than the one before. These ranks in order of succession are:
- Lance Corporal
- Corporal
- Master Corporal
- Sergeant
- Warrant Officer
- Master Warrant Officer
- Chief Warrant Officer
